You are what you eat!

We know that the way the world produces food has changed over that last 50 years. Some argue that the "globalization" of food production has created food shortages, the disappearance of the family farm, and lead to widespread food borne illnesses. What do you think? Have the benefits outweighed the costs? Refer to at least one of the following articles in your response:

  1. haaaa! im the first one to blg up on this! um... my opinion does not support the whole food shortages, and the disappearance of family farms. Food produced now is full of biochemicals and is decreasing the natural value. But in order for the companies to create profit, this is needed.

  2. The fast food restaurants and other lower priced food producers cause local farmers to lose their jobs if other people are supplying food for cheap. Also sometimes when food travels from country to country it can provide illness and disease from the countries that produce the food. I don't think the benefits outweigh the costs in this scenerio.

  3. i agree with Hugo. Recently all the food are produced as being very biochemical. To add flavor to the food, the food companies don`t think much about what needs to be added,, so that it is healthier for the people with not alot of flavor to it. who would worry about the taste of the food, if the food is full of bad ingredients that causes major disease.

  4. i think it's shocking when you you read all these facts about the emergence of illnesses and chronic health consequences.most of the people don't think about what they eat(me too)the main thing is that it's cheap and tastes good.and in my opinion it's very bad that local farmers lose their jobs but the majority rather runs the risk of falling ill than paying more for healthy food.
